Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

Del Mar Racetrack has a long history as a San Diego institution. Race day is like a big party at Del Mar, and it is tradition for attendees to dress up in their finest to go to the track. As part of the 2017 campaign, this spot celebrates the traditions of the racetrack. We created original illustrations that have the classic feel of vintage postcards or travel posters. These images are revealed through the silhouettes of well-dressed race fans with ornate hats and fancy cocktails, as well as the Bugler, who introduces all of the races. The imagery is complimented by a contemporary version of “Where the Turf Meets the Surf”— a song by Bing Crosby, who was one of the founders of the historic racetrack’.
