Life of Pi
Client
Life of Pi marks yU+co’s fifth collaboration with director Ang Lee. We helped create the visual design process for the Main Title sequence, End Crawl and montages within the film. The opening features an array of exotic zoo animals with typography cleverly animated to play off the animals’ movements.
The End Crawl integrates traditional Indian mandalas and icons taken from Pi’s survival manual. The imagery and typography are designed in 3D space to create a dynamic stereo effect. A multi-plane stereographic transitional technique was designed to be used for several montage sequences within the body of the film.
